PM Imran addresses SCO summit in Dushanbe

Prime Minister Imran Khan is currently addressing the 20th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Council of Heads of State (SCO-CHS) Summit in Tajikistan’s capital, Dushanbe.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, National Security Advisor Moeed Yusuf and Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry are also present for the conference.

Commenting on the situation in Afghanistan, the premier said that now was the time to stand with the people of the war torn country.

We must remember that the Afghan government primarily depended on foreign aid, he said, highlighting the need to mobilise international support for immediate humanitarian assistance.

"The Taliban must fulfill the promises they have made," he said. Pakistan has a vital interest in a peaceful and stable Afghanistan and will continue to lend its support, he said.
